What This Extension Does
YouTube Thumbnail Grabber Pro lets you view and download YouTube video thumbnails in multiple resolutions directly from any YouTube page.
When you open the extension popup, it reads the current YouTube tab's URL to extract the video ID, then fetches the corresponding thumbnail images from YouTube's public servers (img.youtube.com) to check availability and let you download them.
Data We Collect
We collect no personal data whatsoever. The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any information about you or your browsing activity.
Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following browser permissions, each with a specific and limited purpose:
activeTab — Reads the URL of the active YouTube tab solely to extract the video ID. No other tab data is accessed.
clipboardWrite — Allows copying the thumbnail image to your clipboard when you click the Copy button.
storage — Stores a local cache of recently checked thumbnail resolutions to avoid redundant network requests. This data never leaves your device.
Host permission (youtube.com, img.youtube.com) — Required to run on YouTube pages to detect the current video, and to fetch thumbnail images from YouTube's public image servers to check which resolutions are available.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer any data to third parties. The only external network requests made by this extension are to YouTube's own public servers to fetch thumbnail images — the same requests your browser would make when visiting YouTube normally.
Security
All extension logic runs entirely within your browser. There are no external servers, no backends, and no cloud infrastructure associated with this extension. Your data stays on your device.
